Nobbys Lighthouse Must Stand Free

It is time this out of place motor garage was removed from the curtilage of the historic Nobbys Lighthouse allowing the lighthouse to stand free.

"FREE NOBBYS" was the call in 2008 when buildings were proposed that would alienate and obscure Nobbys historic lighthouse.  The proponents were in breach of the Commonwealth Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.

Nobbys Lighthouse Station, Crown Plan 1906.  Note the Commonwealth access and clear curtilage required around the Lighthouse.

You can see the required curtilage is not being provided by this non-Commonwealth structure.

It is time this out-of-place and unnecessary building was removed from the curtilage of the historic Nobbys Lighthouse, allowing the lighthouse to stand free in accordance with the Crown Plan (above)

Nobbys Lighthouse should be restored to its original condition.

The lighthouse represents the first navigation light on the Australian coast, which was a coal-fired beacon. That beacon was extinguished on New Years Eve 1856 and the current Lighthouse brought into use.
