Yet heritage vandals and the media were given the keys of the city. The welfare of earthquake-affected Newcastle people was ignored and renters received nothing from the donations meant to help victims. The courage shown by CEAG is to be applauded but now demolition of our cultural icons is happening under the euphemism of "revitalisation" rather than earthquake safety. He appears to have been a reputable heritage consultant, especially in engineering. So, it's a lot more than I know about you Anonymous. If you are such an authority then why haven't we heard of you? I am appalled with the treatment of heritage in Newcastle. From where I stand we are leaving precious little to future generations through our greed and selfishness. The lack of regard for our 'heritage' or what we leave our 'heirs' is just a symptom of that illness.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4103995870729020250.post-26247210410181766032009-12-17T22:10:02.998+11:002009-12-17T22:10:02.998+11:00Love the comment by 'Anonymous' at 3:39PM ...Love the comment by 'Anonymous' at 3:39PM on 17/12/09. Wow! What a perfect example that the ghosts of the Rum Corp are still with us. Ghosts of Christmas Past indeed! You could almost hear John Macarthur spluttering his agreement about the sanctity of private property. I really am impressed. To take so much trouble to comment, miss the point AND manage to work the mob into it somehow! Priceless! And such a rich irony given the character and history of the 'gang' who are running NSW just now. Not to mention their faceless 'mates' in this town; mates who perhaps have not changed much in 20 years, nor yet in 200.

A Merry Christmas! He is a private citizen. he has no legal or statutory authority to enter into private owned properties and do research on behalf of anyone UNLESS he has the owners permission. Just because this poster claims he is 'the authority" on X or Y does not make him so. Just because someone runs a private business as a heritage consultant does not render them an expert on earthquake damage or occupational health and safety issues or public liability issues. Further, if the owners do not have the funds to sensitively heritage renovate. then these people have no legal authority to take over a private citizen or owners bank account or resources and force them into spending money on their heritage specialists "mates" heritage consulting businesses. These tactics are just the same as the ones used by the mafia in New York city to terrorize shopkeepers and property owners into paying their associates and hangers on for their "protection". Its a heritage rort run by heritage fanatics for the benefit of their and their friends heritage consultancies. A lucrative way to line their pockets while key services and public safety in Newcastle were being held to ransome.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
